Sunil Puri, a developer and philanthropist whose work transformed the Rockford landscape, has died at age 65.
Puri came to Rockford from Bombay, India, in 1979 to attend what is now Rockford University.
He founded First Midwest Group in November 1984, and it grew into one of the premier development firms in the region.
