NIU’S FRAZIER APPOINTED TO COLLEGIATE WOMEN SPORTS AWARDS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sean T. Frazier, Northern Illinois University Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

The CWSA, now in its 48th year, is the premier awards program in women’s collegiate athletics, recognizing outstanding performances by female student-athletes across all NCAA divisions. The Honda Sports Award is given annually to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, and one overall winner is awarded the Honda Cup.

“I am honored to join the CWSA Board of Directors,” Frazier said. “To be a part of this organization that celebrates excellence in women’s sports is especially gratifying. It is a privilege to support an all-encompassing awards program that honors female student-athletes across all sports and divisions, including the prestigious Honda Sports Award.”

In his 12th year at the helm of the NIU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Frazier has guided the Huskies to historic milestones competitively, academically and socially, cemented his status as both a national and community leader on diversity and inclusion and led successful fundraising efforts that have transformed the student-athlete experience at NIU. His appointment to the CWSA Board reflects his ongoing commitment to advancing opportunities and recognition for student-athletes, particularly women in sports.

A past president of the NCAA Minority Opportunities Athletic Association, Frazier currently serves as second vice-president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). This past May, he was inducted into the Suffolk County (N.Y.) Sports Hall of Fame on his native Long Island.
