The City of DeKalb is Accepting Applications for 2025 Community Development Block Grant Public Services Funding

Mayor Cohen Barnes has announced that applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Services Program are now available to non-profit agencies for the 2025 Program Year. CDBG is federal community development assistance funding provided to the City by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The fiscal year for the CDBG Program runs from April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. Funding is released 120 days after Congress approves the federal budget. Applications for 2025 Public Services funding can be obtained on the City’s website under the Community Development Department on the Community Services page. Completed funding requests are due by 5:00 PM on December 13, 2024.

CDBG-funded public services programs administered by the Community Development Department are for new public services or a documented increase in existing public services provided to target resident populations. Organizations seeking CDBG funds must serve City residents whose household income is less than 80% of the median income in the area. They must collect documentation of household income for all program participants or confirm that they will provide services in a limited geographic area where more than 51% of the total population has low to moderate income. All projects are required to meet at least one Consolidated Plan Objective and one HUD National Objective. You can find the application materials, including a list of the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and HUD national objectives, on the City’s website.
