This might be one of the pettiest reasons to fire someone, but because I am someone who overthinks how I compose every single message I send, particularly my choice in punctuation, this story resonates with me.

A lecturer at a college in the U.K. was fired last year for “aggressive” punctuation, like using six question marks when sending a response that said, “Why don’t you listen??????”

While I’m sure there was more going on that eventually led up to this, an employment board has awarded him a $20,000 payout after saying that wasn’t a good enough reason for him to get fired.
