At the weekend box office, Sonic the Hedgehog set some new records! Over the President’s Day holiday weekend, it opened to near $70M making the the largest opening ever for a video game adaptation.
Birds of Prey was bumped to 2nd adding another $19M to it’s total. Fantasy Island debuted in 3rd with 14M followed by The Photograph in 4th with $13M. Bad Boys for Life rounded out the Top 5 movies for the 3-day weekend.

Adele has been making headlines for her weight loss, but can we talk about the music?! It looks like we are going to be getting a new Adele album this year! Adele officiated a wedding for some friends over the weekend and at some point during the evening she was recorded saying to “expect my album in September!” Yessss. She also performed a surprises set after the ceremony, singing “Rolling in the Deep,” along with covers like the Spice Girls’ “Spice Up Your Life,” and Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” Now where is THAT footage?!
Jeff Bezos is making headlines…for good reasons. Yesterday he announced a new initiative called the Bezos Earth Fund which will back scientists, activists and organizations working to combat climate change. He is committing $10 BILLION to start and will begin issuing grants this summer.
Today is National Drink Wine Day! Here’s something to cheers to: The price of wine is expected to drop to its lowest levels in five years thanks, in part, to a surplus of California grapes. Vineyards in Northern California began planting thousands of acres of new vines in 2016, and with more efficient harvesting methods, it has led to more bountiful harvests of grapes. Thing is, they overshot the demand for wine. Wine consumption has dropped for the first time in 25 years, with more Americans turning to liquor and ready-to-drink cocktails. So with all this supply and less demand, wine experts are predicting cheaper wine prices for the next few years!
