The Recording Academy is making some changes to their Grammy rules. They are dropping the term ‘urban’ and have renaming the Best Urban Contemporary Album award to the Best Progressive R&B Album Award.

They have also changed some eligibility rules. Most notably, you don’t have to be a new artist anymore to be nominated for Best New Artist. You just can’t have “attained a breakthrough or prominence” before the eligibility year.

Makes sense. A lot of artists put out several albums before they finally have their big moment.
