Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking volunteers for its 10th annual GoodTAXES program. The program offers free income tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income area residents from January to April each year.
The Kitchen Table is a non-profit, all-volunteer, pay-what-you-can, community café based in Rochelle. Their mission is to alleviate local hunger, reduce food waste, and give others the opportunity to pay it forward!
Books and Barks is a Sycamore Library program that lets children practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a Canine Good Citizen. The program takes place every Wednesday at 6 PM.
Want to get rid of those unused books? The Sycamore Library accepts donations of new/used books as well as books in need of recycling on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
The Lawn Brigade wants you! This volunteer work force provides lawn mowing, yard care, leaf raking and snow shoveling for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

DeKalb Township and “Cell Phones for Soldiers” invites you to drop off your old cell phones for recycling. Proceeds will be used to provide men & women overseas with prepaid calling cards.
The Volunteer Action Center is looking for more organizations (service clubs, churches, businesses and other organizations) to help with the Meals on Wheels program. VAC is also recruiting individual volunteers to help with meal delivery routes on a weekly basis, monthly basis or as an on-call volunteer.
If you or someone you know is a senior citizen who has lost their spouse, you’re encouraged to join W.O.W. (Widows and/or Widowers) This social activity and interaction group meets twice monthly to help widows and widowers deal with their feelings, make new friends and take part in group activities.
Family Service Agency of DeKalb offers the ‘Kids First’ parenting education program twice a month. The course assists parents with understanding how to lessen the negative impact of divorce and separation on their children.
