After defeating second-place Toledo on Tuesday night, the Northern Illinois University men’s basketball team will travel to take on first-place Akron on Saturday, March 2. Game time in Akron is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN+, along with 94-9 WDKB in DeKalb, the NIU Huskies app and the Varsity Network app.

David Coit (Columbus, N.J./Atlantic Cape CC) scored 27 points in Tuesday’s win at Toledo, he is now just 33 points shy of 1,000 in his Huskie career. Coit would become just the fourth player in NIU history to reach 1,000 career points in two seasons, joining Kenny Battle (1984-86), Jim Bradley (1971-73) and Xavier Silas (2009-11).

Will Lovings-Watts (Jeffersonville, Ind./Putnam Science) recorded his first career double-double in the win over the Rockets. Lovings-Watts becomes the first NIU freshman to post a double-double since Tyler Cochran had 12 points and 10 rebounds against Ohio on Jan. 28, 2020.

Oluwasegun Durosinmi (Lagos, Nigeria/St. Bonaventure) netted a career-high 12 points last time out against Toledo, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the field. Durosinmi becomes the 11th different Huskie to score in double figures this season.
