94.9 WDKB presented this weeks #HometownHero award to:
Sara Myers
Thanks to Peyton from DeKalb and Cathy from Sycamore for nominating Sergeant Burdick. They said:
“Sara Myers is someone who really steps up to the plate when she’s asked. She’s a kind, encouraging, and supportive classmate in the DeKalb Chamber Leadership Academy, and that is just a fraction of why she deserves this award.
As part of the program, the class has to come up with an idea for a fundraiser, plan it, and execute it. “Karaoke For A Cause” was an idea that another classmate shared, and Sara has gone above and beyond to make the vision come to life! She’s really taken the lead on planning and organizing this event. If it wasn’t for her diligence, her organization skills, and her kind outreach to others in our class to get tasks completed, this definitely wouldn’t be going off as well as it has so far. Sara also has her own event idea that has been chosen for Leadership Academy, the “Day Of Adaptability” happening in October. When she presented the idea to the class, she had already done much of the legwork necessary to get the event off to a successful start planning-wise.
We just wanted to say thank you and honor Sara for being such an integral part of Karaoke for a Cause, and her thoughtful and hard-working approach throughout the entire course of the Leadership Academy. She has become a great friend and solid support to many of us.”
