94.9 WDKB and T-Mobile presented this week’s #HometownHero award to:

Lois Miller

Thanks to Joey Moore in DeKalb for nominating Lois!

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, Lois has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for multiple agencies like Barb Food Mart and Network of Nations. The Barb Food Mart is a school based food pantry open to all families with children in the DeKalb School District while Network of Nations supports internationals that come to the DeKalb area, offering them a community of friends to help with cultural adjustment, language difficulties, isolation, and loneliness. Lois’ leadership was instrumental in moving Barb Food Mart into a drive-thru service during the pandemic. She also helped to open the new intercultural market hosted by the Network of Nations. Lois is a school librarian at Jefferson Elementary, working daily to support students, families and teachers. She is also on the Jefferson Elementary PTA Board. Lois has a true spirit of volunteerism and gives back to her community in everything that she does.
