94.9 WDKB presented this weeks #HometownHero award to:

Holly Peifer

Thanks to an anonymous source who nominated Holly. They wrote:

Holly is the Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center at Family Service Agency of DeKalb County. She started at FSA in 2009 as an intern, and she was a director by 2014. She has dedicated herself to child abuse prevention, awareness, and advocacy. Since July 2021, Holly and her team have conducted approximately 130 forensic interviews with children suspected of being abused, have disclosed abuse, or were witnesses to violence. With the help of her team, she coordinates the interviews, supportive services for the child and their non-offending caregiver(s), and works with the family through any legal proceedings. Holly oversees Adopt-A-Family and Walk to End Child Abuse. Adopt-A-Family supports families who need a little help during the holiday season by providing extra gifts and a holiday dinner – local fire departments provide dinner. She is planning the 12th annual Walk to End Child Abuse on April 23rd, 2022. She recently welcomed a new team member to the Children’s Advocacy Center. Laddie is a black lab from Duo Dogs in St. Louis, Missouri. He provides comfort to children who come into the CAC during their interviews and medical examinations. FSA waited two years for Laddie, and Holly made it possible! Holly provides a listening ear to children who would not receive one otherwise. She takes every measure possible to ensure that DeKalb County children are protected, and that’s why she is a Hometown Hero!”
