Per the DeKalb Public Library Press Release:

In honor of Black History Month, the DeKalb Public Library is highlighting some of the amazing works of children’s literature made by African Americans and other people of the African diaspora. Watch for videos posted on the library’s website, YouTube channel, and Facebook throughout the month! Each video will feature a local community member reading a children’s book, and they will be a great way to find some new awesome books and enjoy a good story.

Videos will be released throughout the entire month of February.

A few of the guest readers include:

“NIU Athletics is proud to partner with the DeKalb Public Library during Black History Month through the ‘Highlighting Black Voices’ program,” said NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier. “What a great opportunity to highlight books written by Black authors for children in our community. Although we couldn’t read to the kids in person this year, I had a lot of fun recording the book as a guest reader, and I know our coaches and student-athletes felt the same.”

A special thanks to Northern Illinois University (NIU) for their participation in this project. The library will also post interviews with other community members from the government and business sectors.
