The DeKalb County History Center has won an Award of Excellence for its “History of DeKalb County in 100 Objects” exhibit.  The accolades come from The Illinois Association of Museums and were presented in a virtual ceremony. The award “recognizes work of excellent quality that uses available resources well, is creative and meets professional standards.”

The exhibit itself is divided into two sections: one  on-site section and one off-site section. It also features four distinct themes; Change, Daily Life, Special Events, and Government. You can find examples of the themes throughout the objects in the exhibit, 50 of which are located on-site, and 50 are scattered throughout DeKalb County. You can locate the off-site object through the History Center’s website.

If you’d like to visit the exhibit, you’ll be able to see it  between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays or noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays at the DeKalb County History Center.  For more information, call 815-895-5762 or visit dekalbcountyhistory.org.
