Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Monday that both the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will be allowed a limited number of in-person fans starting in April. Both teams will be allowed to have 20% capacity in the stands starting on opening day which means 8,122 fans for the Sox and 8,274 for the Cubs.

Fans will still have to follow Covid-19 protocols including being seated in pods to facilitate social distancing, fans over age 2 will be required to wear masks, the teams will use mobile ticketing and retail and concessions will be cashless. More protocols and restrictions may be added as well.

The Sox home opener is scheduled for April 8th while the Cubs home opener is scheduled for April 1st.
