ROCKFORD — We’re still waiting on an official opening date for A Hard Rock Opening Act, the interim casino that will operate while the permanent structure is built on the former Clock Tower Resort grounds.
Casino representatives have signaled that an announcement could come soon. Hard Rock has been in close contact with the Illinois Gaming Board as it works to get final approval to open the temporary casino and set an opening date.
“We understand there is excitement and anticipation around the opening of Rockford’s long-awaited casino,” Geno Iafrate, president of Hard Rock Rockford Casino, said in a statement. “The Hard Rock team continues to work with the IGB to satisfy all requisite requirements necessary to open soon. Stay tuned…”

Hard Rock said last month it hoped to open in early November, pending the OK from the gaming board. The temporary casino, which is inside the former Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, is expected to operate for about two years while the full resort is built.
