Three members of the Northern Illinois University women’s golf team have received recognition as 2021-22 All-American Scholars from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association as the organization announced the list of honored student-athletes Tuesday.

Mid-American Conference medalist and NCAA Regionals qualifier Jasmine Ly led the Huskie contingent of WGCA All-American Scholars and was joined by fellow sophomore Emily Romancew (Pierrefonds, Quebec, Canada/Ecole Secondaire Des Sources) and freshman Jóhanna Lúðvíksdóttir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland).

The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 required.

Ly carries a 3.96 grade point average in finance, while Romancew is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.71 GPA. Lúðvíksdóttir posted a 3.97 GPA in her first year and plans to pursue a major in psychology.

The All-American Scholar honor is the third for Ly, while Romancew and Lúðvíksdóttir were named to the prestigious list for the first time.  A total of 1,485 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized.
