Huskies near and far are invited to join the celebration during the Golden Huskies 50+ Year Reunion, featuring the Class of 1974, set for Oct. 17-19 during Northern Illinois University’s (NIU) 117th Homecoming. This celebration recognizes those who graduated from NIU in 1974 or earlier, although all Huskies and friends of NIU are welcome to attend!

The festivities kick off at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 with the Huskie Homecoming Block Party in downtown DeKalb, featuring a kid’s zone, classic car show, pep rally, food trucks, discounts at local businesses and much more. At 6 p.m. during the block party, the March of the Huskies will take place, featuring NIU VIPs and the Huskie Marching Band.

A bus tour of the beautiful NIU campus will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, followed by a Huskie Hour event with DeKalb County Bold Spirits from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

Friday evening will be capped off with a Golden Huskies Reunion Reception from 6 to 9 p.m., where alumni from throughout the decades can connect and share memories of their time at NIU.

Saturday morning, Oct. 19, will start with the annual NIU Alumni Association Homecoming Brunch at Altgeld Hall, followed by a Golden Huskies Reunion Pregame Celebration at the Mission’s Grove tailgate area, which will get us all hyped up for the big Homecoming game that day against the University of Toledo Rockets. Kickoff is TBA.
