With a combination of in-person and virtual activities, Northern Illinois University Athletics’ 2022 Victor E. Bash established a new fundraising record for the event as donors, alumni and fans across the country contributed a total of $251,725 in support of Huskie student-athletes between June 6-10, NIU Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier announced Wednesday.

The 2022 Victor E. Bash combined the popular online elements and YouTube video presentations of the past two all virtual Victor E. Bashes, with the return of in-person Huskie Summer Circuit stops in St. Charles and Rockford, in coordination with the NIU Alumni Association. During the Huskie Summer Circuit stop at Pollyanna Brewing in St. Charles, NIU broadcast the in-person appearance by Frazier and Huskie head coaches on its YouTube Channel, where fans were able to enjoy programming all week long.

“Once again, Huskie Nation stepped up in record-setting fashion to support NIU student-athletes during the 2022 Victor E. Bash,” Frazier said. “It was truly amazing to see the support generated this year, and to see the growth of this event over the past eight years. We are truly thankful to everyone who contributed in any way. Congratulations also, to the athletics staff who work so hard to put all the different elements together, and to Patrick Gorman, Kevin Meyer and the team at Huskie Vision for producing all of the video content, including the live Huskie Summer Circuit broadcast.”

The live Huskie Summer Circuit from Pollyanna Brewing and special presentation of “NIU Football 2012: A Season to Remember” highlighted the YouTube content available during the 2022 Victor E. Bash. All of the Huskie head coaches provided updates on their programs during the Summer Circuit, while players from the 2012 Huskie team that played in the Orange Bowl, including Jordan Lynch, Jimmie Ward and Tommylee Lewis, take viewers game by game through the magical season in their own words.  Both videos, as well as the Thank You Finale video featuring Frazier and the Huskie head coaches, and the Victor E. Bash preview video, are still available to view.

Meanwhile, the popular online auction attracted fans who won items from autographed jerseys to trips with Huskie teams, football sideline passes, unique experiences, golf, NIU gear and more. The Wine and Spirits Pull saw record donations from local distributors and donors, allowing more fans than ever before to participate in the game where everyone was a winner.

All of the videos that premiered during the Victor E. Bash, as well as past features, game highlights, live press conferences and more, are available to watch on the NIU Huskies YouTube Channel. In fact, becoming a subscriber and viewing NIU content on the channel is another, completely free way to support the Huskies year-round.
