June is LGBTQIA+ Pride month! DeKalb County Pride has planned many events and partnered with several sponsors and organizations. Below is a list of events throughout DeKalb County celebrating Pride. For more information, or to find out more about DeKalb Pride, click HERE.

2023 Pride Events:

  • Book Queeries: The Sycamore Library LGBTQIA+ friendly book club. June 13th from 6:30-7:30pm there will be discussion of the book On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (Fiction/Memoir). They meet every month to discuss a new book. Sign up HERE
  • Family Service Agency Queer Social: June 16th from 6-8pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1915 North First Street DeKalb, IL 60115.
  • Hometown Bar Drag Show Event 21+: June 17th at 9 PM more information at Hometown Sports Bar & Grill.
  • NIU Celebrates Pride: Wednesday, June 21st from Noon – 3pm at the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (Arndt House.) This is a drop in event with several things planned throughout the afternoon. Click HERE for full schedule for the afternoon.
  • Showing of “Major” at the Egyptian Theatre: Wednesday, June 21st at 7pm. There will be a discussion after.
  • PRIDE Fest, Resource Fair, and March: Thursday June 22nd 4:30pm at the Van Buer Plaza in Downtown DeKalb.
    • Showing of “Freak Show” at the Egyptian Theatre to follow the fest. Thursday, June 22nd at 7pm.
  • Rocky Horror Picture Show: Friday, June 23rd at 8pm at the Egyptian Theatre. Tickets can be purchased HERE.

Youth Information

The National Runaway Safeline:

Provides advice and assistance to runaways, including resources, shelter, transportation, assistance in finding counseling, and transitioning back to home life. NRS frontline staff will also act as advocates and mediators if/as needed.

The True Colors United

The True Colors Fund is working to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth, creating a world in which all young people can be their true selves. True Colors United runs a database of service providers.

Self Abuse Finally Ends (S.A.F.E)

Addresses individuals coping with non-suicidal self-injury, including locally-based information, support, and therapy referrals.
