Peace Road Construction Begins April 7th

The DeKalb County Engineer would like to inform the traveling public that road construction on the Peace Road Bridge Replacement and Road Widening Project will begin on Monday, April 7^th, 2025. This 2-year project involves Peace Road north of IL Route 64 and south of Freed Road in Sycamore, IL. Two-way traffic will be maintained with occasional flaggers to control traffic when workers are not behind barricades. The projected completion date by contractor Sjostrom & Sons Inc is October 31, 2026.

Typical work hours are 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Please obey the flaggers and the 45 mph construction zone speed limit Any questions or concerns call 815-756-9513.

I had the pleasure of attending an amazing training today with a Meta certified trainer. We did a deep dive on Instagram and it was so insightful. There was also a panel discussion which was really helpful!! One thing I love about this community is that everybody is always looking to grow and learn! There is no shortage of opportunities to do just that! Shout out to the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Sycamore, and Genoa chambers for working together to bring this training to life. - Peyton

Swan Hillman Elementary School Principal Carolyn Kloss will retire this summer after 36 years in education. She has spent the last 17 years at Swan Hillman, where her legacy is centered on fostering a love of reading. Her staff celebrated her Thursday by placing a little free library in front of the school in her honor.
