O’Shea Set To Compete at NCAA Regionals

Kiera O’Shea will represent the NIU Gymnastics team on Friday, April 4 when she competes at the Tuscaloosa, Ala. Regional on vault. O’Shea has earned the NCAA Regional qualification for the second straight season after another impressive year on vault.

In 2025 O’Shea posted an NQS of 9.845 and an average of 9.812 to earn the bid to Tuscaloosa.

O’Shea was named to the All-MAC First Team this season for posting the highest NQS in the Mid-American Conference.

O’Shea has impressed throughout the season and earned seven wins on vault this season. That included a streak of six straight wins from January 24 through February 23 this season. In the final win of that streak at Western Michigan posted a

season high and second highest score of her career with a 9.900.

In 2024 O’Shea was named to the All-MAC second team and then scored a career high 9.925 to earn a MAC Championship.

O’Shea earned a bid to compete at the 2024 NCAA Regionals in Arkansas. Last season at the NCAA Regionals O’Shea scored a 9.825, the highest ever for a Huskie on vault in NCAA Regional competition.

O’Shea’s qualification marks 11 straight seasons dating back to 2014 that the Huskies have had an NCAA Regional Qualifier

The competition will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday. O’Shea will compete after the host Crimson Tide competes on vault in the first rotation.
