NIU Closes Homestand With Saturday Matchup Against Miami
DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women’s basketball team closes its five-game homestand Saturday afternoon when it hosts the Miami RedHawks at 1 p.m. at the NIU Convocation Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as the NIU Huskies and Varsity Network apps.
Available for all weekend home games throughout the remainder of the basketball season, NIU Athletics is offering its new 2024 Pack. The new package includes four game tickets, four hot dogs, four chips and four sodas for just $40.

Game tickets for the 2024 Pack will be delivered digitally; on game day concession vouchers can be picked up at the NIU Convocation Center Box Office and redeemed at the arena concession stand at any time during the game.
NIU (6-6, 0-1 MAC) looks to wrap up this homestand on a high note after a 67-49 loss to Eastern Michigan Wednesday night which snapped a three-game winning streak. It also halted the Huskies’ eight-game home court winning streak. Jayden Marable (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) led NIU with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. It was the second time this season Marable led the Huskies in points, rebounds and assists in a single game. Marable leads NIU with 12.9 points and 4.6 assists per game.
Over the last nine games, NIU is averaging 70.7 points per game. The Huskies have scored 70 points or more in five of those games. NIU has shot 40 percent or better from the field in five of its six wins this season. The Huskies are fourth in the MAC in scoring offense, averaging 68.3 points per game. Defensively, NIU is allowing just 55.0 points per game over its last four games.
Miami (2-9, 0-1 MAC) opened Mid-American Conference play Wednesday night with a 70-52 loss to preseason favorites Toledo at Millett Hall. The RedHawks shot 40 percent from the field in the first half and trailed the Rockets 31-29 at halftime. Toledo outscored Miami 39-23 in the second half to earn the victory. Graduate forward Jadyn Scott led Miami with 13 points as Katey Richason added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Scott leads RedHawks in scoring at 12.7 points per game and tops the MAC in field goal percentage at 53.0 percent.
The Huskies go on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 10 to take on the Ohio Bobcats at 6 p.m. CT.
