Men’s Golf Places Four On Academic All-MAC Team

The Northern Illinois University men’s golf team had four student-athletes selected to the 2024-25 Academic All-MAC Team as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Seniors Patrick Bruminhent (Lampang, Thailand/The American School of Bangkok), Felix Krammer (Waakirchen, Germany/Arkansas State), and Ben Sluzas were named to the Academic All-MAC Team along with sophomore Craig Long (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton).

 

Sluzas earned his second Academic All-MAC selection in his career. He was an All-MAC Second Team honoree this season marking the third consecutive year Sluzas was named All-MAC. Sluzas was second on the team in scoring average at 72.486 and had three top-five finishes this season. He finished his NIU career as the program’s career leader in scoring average at 72.809. Sluzas graduated this spring with a 3.368 grade point average in Leadership and Management.

 

This is Krammer’s first selection to the Academic All-MAC Team. He was named to the All-MAC First Team after leading the Huskies with a 72.171 scoring average. Krammer tied the NIU single-round scoring record on Sept. 29 with an eight-under par 64 in the first round of the Badger Invitational. He went on to tie for second and lead NIU to the team title, earning MAC Golfer of the Week that week. Krammer recorded a 3.783 GPA in Business Administration and graduated this spring.

 

Bruminhent and Long also earned their first selections to the Academic All-MAC Team. Long had three top-10 finishes this season and was NIU’s top finisher at the MAC Championship. The sophomore tied for fourth at the conference championship with a 54-hole score of two-under par 214. Long finished the current academic year with a 3.618 GPA in Finance. Bruminhent played in seven events this season, tying for 15th as an individual at the Badger Invitational with an even-par 54-hole score of 216. He tied for 10th place at NIU’s Kishwaukee Collegiate on April 5th. Bruminhent graduated this spring with a 3.616 GPA in Sport Management.

 

This is the seventh consecutive year NIU has had at least three Academic All-MAC honorees. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests completed in the particular sport. First-year students and transfers in their first year at their school are not eligible.
