The Northern Illinois University men’s basketball team will meet Sam Houston State on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Fla., as the matchups for the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off have been set.

NIU and Sam Houston are joined in the Palms Division by Long Island University and South Dakota. The Huskies and Bearkats will meet in the opening game on Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. CT (12 p.m. local) with LIU and South Dakota squaring off in the second game. The following day, Nov. 23, the consolation game will take place at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. local), followed by the championship game at 12:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. local).

“We are very excited to participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off,” said NIU head coach Rashon Burno. “I know it will be a great experience for our team to play two quality opponents at a neutral site in a tournament setting. It is also a great opportunity for our fans to travel to an outstanding location, enjoy the warm weather and see some high-level basketball.”

The Beach Division of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off features Georgia Tech, Marquette, Mississippi State and Utah. Each Beach Division team will host a Palms Division school on Thursday, Nov. 17, before all eight schools head to Fort Myers. NIU will travel to Georgia Tech for the first meeting in program history against the Yellow Jackets in that crossover matchup.
