The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, led by Linc Smelser, KSO music director, will delight concert-goers with its annual KSO Holiday Pops Concert: “Winter Wonderland,” Friday, December 9, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 11, at 2 p.m. The performances will be held in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building, at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.

These concerts are supported in part by the George E. and Betty B. Dutton Foundation.

The orchestra will perform music of the season, such as contemporary and familiar traditional and holiday favorites including, The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky, Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson and March of the Toys from “Babes in Toyland” by Victor Herbert.

Pre-concert music will be performed in the concert hall lobby as patrons arrive. On Friday evening, music will be provided by students of the NIU Suzuki Strings program, directed by Ann Montzka Smelser, KSO concertmaster. On Sunday afternoon, music will be provided by the Crosswinds Flute Choir, directed by Lynn Hansen, KSO flutist.

Post-concert music will be provided by the Kishwaukee Symphony Brass Quintet.

And the DeKalb High School Madrigal Singers will perform during the intermission on Friday evening.

Seating is general admission. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each performance in the concert hall lobby. However, patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance for this popular concert. Visit kishorchestra.org/ticket-info for information about purchasing tickets online.

Tickets may also be purchased in advance by calling the Egyptian Theatre box office at 815.758.1225, or in-person at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second Street, DeKalb, between 3 and 6 pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, with cash, check, or credit card.

Individual ticket prices are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors 62 and over, $7 for students (with a valid school i.d. card), and $7 for children under 12.
