Per the Kishwaukee Family YMCA Media Release:

Kishwaukee Family YMCA will open its summer day camp for the season beginning June 29, 2020. Campers and parents can expect to see numerous changes in order to comply with national, state and local guidelines and recommendations, but the benefits of camp remain constant.

Summer is the ideal time for kids to get up, get out and explore, and this is especially true this summer, following several months of stay-at-home orders, explains Cami Loving, Program Operations Director at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA. “The social, emotional and physical benefits camp provides are going to be more beneficial in 2020 than ever before, and we’re thrilled to be able to open and to help children get active and make connections with friends both old and new.”

Kish Cares Camp 2020 is now open to the community.   While camp will be operated on more of a limited capacity and may look different from summers past, families can count on the same safe, high quality fun-filled program that you have come to know from the YMCA.

Kish Cares Camp will be available Monday – Friday from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm beginning June 29 through August 14, 2020.  Camp is open to children in the community entering Kindergarten through entering sixth grade.  Camp will be held at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA located at 2500 West Bethany Rd, Sycamore.  All Kish Cares Campers must have an active Kish YMCA membership at the time of registration.  Special Summer Camp Membership packages are available.

In order to help keep campers and staff healthy and safe this summer, the Kishwaukee Family YMCA has adapted several changes to its day-to-day operations following state and local requirements  including the following:

  • Daily health screenings for campers and staff
  • Reduced capacity in group activities
  • Modified drop off and pick up procedures
  • 6 feet social distancing measures
  • Rigorous cleaning regimen

“Safety has always been our top priority at our YMCA, and while COVID-19 is unlike any other challenge we’ve faced, we’re confident that by following guidelines set forth by YMCA of the USA, American Camp Association, CDC and state and local authorities, we will be able to provide kids with a safe, beneficial and memorable experience like no other,” Loving said.
