Kiera O’Shea Qualifies For NCAA Regional
Northern Illinois University gymnast Kiera O’Shea will compete at the NCAA Regionals for the second straight season as announced by the NCAA on Monday. O’Shea will head to the Alabama Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala. which is scheduled for Thursday, April 3 through Sunday, April 6. O’Shea will compete on Friday, April 4 shortly after 1 p.m.
O’Shea will compete in session 1 on Friday in the first rotation with the host Alabama Crimson Tide.
O’Shea earned an NQS of 1.845 and an average of 9.812 this season. She was also named to the All-MAC first team last week after leading the conference in NQS on the vault.
“We couldn’t be prouder of Kiera’s achievement,” head coach Nita Teague said. “Being that consistent over the whole season is impressive and inspiring.”
The 2024 NCAA Regional qualifier and 2024 MAC Champion earned seven wins on vault this season. That included a streak of six straight wins from January 24 through February 23 this season.
O’Shea posted a season high of 9.900 on Feb. 23 at Western Michigan.
