Jose Gomez (Roatan, Honduras/Clarke University) of the Northern Illinois University men’s soccer team was named to the Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference Team, announced by the league office on Monday (Aug. 18).

After beginning his collegiate career at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, Gomez joined the Huskies last season and scored three goals with five assists while starting all 16 matches. Gomez’s 11 points led the team and his 1,247 minutes played ranked third. Two of Gomez’s three goals and three of his five assists came in league play a season ago.

NIU is entering its third season as an affiliate of the Missouri Valley Conference and Gomez is the first Huskie to earn Preseason All-MVC honors.

The Huskies will open the 2025 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 21, when they travel to Milwaukee for their annual Lewang Cup matchup against the Panthers. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.
