Join Us for Cram the Convo on February 22

An action-packed day of basketball and special events is set for Saturday, Feb. 22, as NIU Athletics hosts its annual “Cram the Convo” Huskie basketball doubleheader. The NIU women’s basketball team will begin the day as it hosts Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m., followed by the Huskie men’s basketball team against Eastern Michigan at 3:30 p.m.

The Ready Go Dog Show will perform at halftime of both games while fans can also have a photo taken with the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Trophy to celebrate the success of the 2024 Huskie football team. Fans can also enter to win two tickets to see Lee Brice in concert at the Coronado Theatre in Rockford on Feb. 28 and one lucky student will have the chance to win $10,000.

NIU women’s basketball will be supporting Play4Kay, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, at the doubleheader. The Huskies will be wearing pink and honoring all patients, survivors, caregivers and staff impacted by cancer, in partnership with the Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital Cancer Center. Fans are encouraged to support NIU’s Play4Kay charity pledge throughout the month of February. Pink “I Fight For” lunch totes will also be available from the marketing table while supplies last, courtesy of Fatty’s Pub and Grille and OLT Marketing.

The Huskies men’s basketball team will be wearing black for a “black out” at the doubleheader with black “Beware of the Dawgs” rally towels available from the marketing table prior to the men’s basketball game while supplies last.

Fans are encouraged to check out NIU’s new retail store inside the Convocation Center, Victor E. Threads, during the doubleheader for a special, “buy a hoodie, get a t-shirt” sale. The T-shirts, including both a pink and black option, will also be available for purchase for $15.

A number of special concession deals will be available, including $3 16-ounce Miller Lite and Coors Light as well as a $7 combo that includes a hot dog as well as a Miller Lite or Coors Light. The season long $5 kids combo special that includes a hot dog, a bag of chips and a small soft drink or water for just $5 will also be available for kids ages 13 and under.

NIU marching band alumni will also be welcomed back on Feb. 22 to participate in Basketball Alumni Band Day. The Tails Humane Society will also be on-site hosting an adopt-a-dog event and the day will also include a kids zone, autographs and many other exciting events and in-game promotions!
