Jasmijn Raes (Amsterdam, Netherlands) finished runner-up in the high jump as the Northern Illinois University women’s track and field team concluded action at the Meyo Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 31).

Raes cleared a season-best height of 1.72 meters (5-07.75), the fifth-best mark in the Mid-American Conference this season, to finish second behind Notre Dame’s Rudecia Bernard (1.77m). Arianna Calloway (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) also cleared 1.72 meters, finishing fourth via the tiebreakers.

Aniya Barton (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) recorded the 16th-best mark in the MAC this season in the triple jump, leaping 11.56 meters, to earn a top-10 finish. Precious Umukoro (Villarreal, Spain) was just behind in 11th with a mark of 11.53 meters.

Emma Curry (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) recorded a time of 2:16.38 in the 800 meters to record a top-25 finish, posting the 19th-best time in the conference this season.

In the long jump on Friday, Umukoro finished fourth with a mark of 5.76 meters. Also on Friday, Amelie Ojeda (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) ran a time of 17:37.51 in the 5,000 meters, a top-25 mark in the conference this season and the ninth-fastest indoor 5,000 time in NIU history.

NIU will be off next weekend before competing in DePaul’s Blue Demon Alumni Classic on Friday, Feb. 13, at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park.
