Huskies to Visit South Alabama in MAC-Sun Belt Challenge

The Northern Illinois University men’s basketball team will travel to Mobile, Ala., to face South Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 10, in the second half of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge, as announced by the league office on Monday (Jan. 22).

NIU defeated App State in the first game of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge, 91-78, on Nov. 11 in DeKalb. David Coit (Columbus, N.J./Atlantic Cape CC) scored a game-high 27 points, Zarique Nutter (Newark, N.J./Clarendon College) had 19, Philmon Gebrewhit (Boston, Mass./DePaul) added 18 and Yanic Konan Niederhauser (Fraschels, Switzerland/Ursping) chipped in 11 points in the victory over the Mountaineeers.

South Alabama is currently 10-9 overall, 3-4 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Jaguars defeated Buffalo, 70-56, on the road in their first game of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.

This will be the first all-time meeting between NIU and South Alabama.
