The Northern Illinois University men’s tennis team fell by a score of 5-2 on Thursday against Ball State.

The Huskies were highlighted by winning the doubles point and Iker Gaztambide Arrastia taking a win in two sets at No. 1 singles.

In doubles play, Iker Gaztambide Arrastia (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and Federico Scotuzzi (Bergamo, Italy/ North Alabama) took down the duo of Nathaniel Webster and Jacks Lancaster 7-6 (7-1) at No.1.

Chiao Bo Suo Nan (Taipei, Taiwan) and Pratyaksh LNU (Delhi, India) then took down Andrew Hayward and Mason Train at No. 3 singles to clinch the point.

In singles play Gaztambide Arrastia took a controlling 7-5, 6-3  win over Nathaniel Webster.

The Huskies forced third sets at No. 3 singles and No. 6 singles but Scotuzzi and Iker Dellien Velasco (Trinidad, Bolivia/UAB) were unable to pull out the wins in the third set.

NIU will close out the season on Saturday as the Huskies travel to take on Western Michigan.
