The Northern Illinois University men’s tennis team earned a ninth place ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) final Midwest Regional Ranking, sponsored by Tennis-Point, released on Friday (June 7).
“Due to the strength of the Midwest region, earning a Top Ten finish is a huge victory for our team,” head coach René Vidal said.
NIU finished the 2024 dual season with an 18-6 overall record and 7-3 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Huskies earned a second-place finish in the MAC regular season and qualified for the MAC tournament.
“This achievement is a program first, which aligns with our goal to do things that have never been done before,” Vidal said. “I am really proud of our guys.”
Freshman Saul Berdullas won MAC Freshman of the Year honors while Cheng En Tsai and Mikael Vollbach were named to the All-MAC First Team.
