The Northern Illinois University men’s tennis team wan unable to overcome the UIC Flames in Saturday’s Dual at the XS Tennis Village.

UIC earned the win in the dual 7-0.

The Huskies opened the doubles play with a win at No. 3 doubles. Pratyaksh (Delhi, India) and Chiao Bo Suo Nan (Taipei, Taiwan) earned a 6-4 win. At No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles the Huskies came just short as both matches went into tiebreakers. At No. 1 doubles Iker Gaztambide Arrastia (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and Federico Scotuzzi (Bergamo, Italy/North Alabama) forced a tiebreak but fell 7-6 (7-5). At No. 2 doubles Saul Berdullas (Pamplona, Spain) and Iker Dellien Velasco (Trinidad, Bolivia) also forced a tiebreak but were defeated 7-6 (7-3).

At No. 1 singles Arrastia forced three sets but was unable to overcome Artem Alekseychuk. The Huskies were unable to defeat the Flames in the remaining singles matches.

The Huskies will be back in action at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 as the Huskies will play host to Buffalo.
