Per Media Release:

Fans, friends and alumni are invited to start their holiday weekend festivities at Huskie Stadium on Saturday, April 16 with the NIU Football Spring Showcase, followed by the Victor E. Huskie Egg Hunt and Autographs. The events, as well as parking, are free and open to all.

The action gets underway at 10 a.m. as the Northern Illinois University football team takes the field for the final spring practice session of 2022. The format will follow a typical spring practice with nearly half of the practice in 11-on-11 situational and scrimmage periods, after opening with warm-ups, individual drills and seven-on-seven. Officials will be on hand as fans will get a look at the energy, effort and competitive drive the team brings every day that has NIU head coach Thomas Hammock fired up about the 2022 campaign.

After practice, the Huskies will assist young fans (ages 13 and younger), who will be separated by age groups, in collecting the candy-filled eggs from the Brigham Field turf during the Victor E. Egg Hunt. Following the Egg Hunt, pick up a new 2022 NIU Football schedule poster, collect autographs and meet the players. Additional activities for the younger Huskie fans during the morning include a coloring station, NIU inflatables and other games.

The Spring Showcase is a great day to renew or purchase tickets for the 2022 NIU Football season. Season tickets offer the best value as opposed to purchasing a ticket for just one or two games with prices less than $15 per ticket with the Huskie Plan (minimum of four season tickets in section A, G for $88 each) while a reserved seat season ticket in sections C, D or E (between the 35s) is just $162 for a great seat to all six games. Available seats will be marked and then, see members of the NIU ticket staff in the concourse behind Section D to purchase or renew season tickets on the spot, and get your ticket questions answered.

On Saturday, fans also are invited to check out some of NIU’s premium seating options and watch practice in the comfort of the Sky Box, or visit the Coaches Club, where members have access to TVs, a cash bar and private restrooms during the season. Huskie Athletic Fund staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on these areas. Visit the Huskie Stadium Premium Seating preview to learn more.

Following practice, the Huskie Athletic Fund will hold its annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon in the Barsema Hall of Champions (located between the Yordon Center and the Chessick Practice Center). Huskie Athletic Fund members are invited to enjoy lunch, catered by Fatty’s Pub & Grille, and hear from NIU Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier, Hammock and members of the offensive and defensive coaching staff. Click Here to RSVP or call the Huskie Athletic Fund at 815-753-1923.

At 1 p.m., head over to Mary M. Bell Field where the NIU softball team will be taking on Kent State in a doubleheader. Like all of the day’s activities, admission is completely free.
