94.9 WDKB and First National Bank presented this week’s #HometownHero award to:

Officer Aaron Lockhart

Officer Lockhart has served with the DeKalb Police Department since 1995 and will be retiring this week! In his 25 years, he has served in both the Patrol and Investigation Divisions. Aaron spent most of his career serving as a School Resource/Juvenile Officer within the DeKalb School District. He interacted with students daily and loved attending games, dances, and other school events so students could get to know him beyond the uniform. He also enjoyed working the Camp Power summer program which aimed to positively influence and empower youth living in DeKalb’s University Village.

Officer Lockhart helped to organize the DeKalb PD’s COMPASS Program which connects at-risk children and their families with various area organizations that could provide opportunities and resources to support families and prevent juvenile criminal behavior. Aaron was also a part of the DeKalb County Juvenile Task Force, the DeKalb County Major Case Squad, and a DeKalb County Youth Service Bureau board member.

Officer Lockhart loves being able to help this community and his smiling face can always be found at community events, from festivals to parades, looking for ways to engage and make himself more approachable in order to foster positive relationships with the police.

Thank you for your service, Officer Lockhart! Congrats on your retirement!
