94.9 WDKB and T-Mobile presented this week’s #HometownHero award to:

Marshall Boyle

Marshall helped to coordinate an effort to raise money and supplies to help the homeless in DeKalb County during such a bitter cold winter. Thanks to Marshall and many other generous supporters, they were able to provide 6 homeless people in the DeKalb area with hotel rooms, food, and clothing to survive the sub-zero temps.

Marshall grew up in DeKalb and proudly served as a Marine for 8 years. He earned his MBA and became a successful businessman, but his life was turned upside down after suffering injuries and PTSD following the Fairdale tornado in 2015. He found himself jobless and homeless, but with the help of friends and family Marshall was eventually able to put the pieces of his life back together. The experience inspired him to help others suffering through similar situations. He now volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County and travels the country to speak about the struggles veterans face like depression, suicide, PTSD, homelessness and more.

Thank you Marshall for your service and for taking such a difficult time in your life and using it as motivation to help others!
