94.9 WDKB and T-Mobile presented this week’s #HometownHero award to:

Jordyn Jackson

Thanks to his mom Angela for nominating Jordyn! She told us: Jordyn is 12 years old, but he has already made such a big impact in the community by volunteering regularly. During the pandemic, he volunteered several hours packing boxes of food at the DeKalb County Community Garden warehouse. In 2020 alone, Jordyn packed a total number of 1,089 boxes of food! Jordyn also helped to pack 20 shoe boxes of toys for Operation Christmas Child in November. He even donated sets of his own Lego creations to help fill these boxes of toys which were shipped all across the world to other kids in need. Jordyn has also volunteered with members of the Kishwaukee Valley Art League, helping to clean and prepare for the grand opening of Gallery On State in Sycamore. He also gives back 15% or more of all profits he earns from selling artwork and crafts back to the community. That’s not all! Right before Christmas, Jordyn wanted to make sure other kids had gifts, so he used his own money to buy 150 stocking stuffers that he then offered to the community for free. Jordyn is a hero with such a big heart. I think that the community would agree!

Jordyn – we are so blown away by your thoughtfulness and selflessness. We have no doubt that you have a very bright future ahead of you and that you will continue to find ways to help others. You are an inspiration and your mom has every reason to be so proud!
