94.9 WDKB presented this week’s T-Mobile #HometownHero award to:

Alex Nerad

Executive Director of the Egyptian Theatre

Thanks to Jeanine in DeKalb for nominating Alex. She wrote:

“2020 was a devastating year for the live entertainment industry and the Egyptian Theatre was no exception. Alex’s leadership and perseverance have not only kept the Egyptian open during unprecedented times, but also found ways to keep the community involved. From broadcasting local musicians live from the Egyptian’s stage during #815Live, to hosting Beth Fowler School of Dance’s classic holiday ballet, The Nutcracker, as a movie that was filmed at the Egyptian to moving the theatre’s Hard Hat Tours to a virtual format at the very beginning of the quarantine, Alex has made sure to keep the Egyptian open and accessible to the community. Even it meant only in a virtual format. Alex has kept his staff and Board of Directors motivated to keep moving the Egyptian forward during a time that no one could have predicted. The Egyptian Theatre and the community are lucky to have an advocate like Alex.”
