High School Senior Musicians Encouraged to Submit Applications for KSO Scholarship

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra invites DeKalb County high school senior musicians to apply for the KSO High School Musician Scholarship. The application deadline is March 16, 2025.

The $1,000 award is given annually to one or more select high school student musicians who reside in the county, have played in an instrumental music ensemble in high school, such as orchestra or band, and will be a member of an instrumental music ensemble in college this fall.

Students may apply for this scholarship by completing the online application. Students should be prepared to write an essay, to list their music and non-music activities and arrange for two letters of recommendation. The application and further details are available at https://kishorchestra.org/scholarships/.

Scholarship recipients will be announced at their high school music awards nights and at the KSO Spring Concert: Vive La France, which will be held at 7:30 pm on May 3 in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, in the NIU Music Building, DeKalb.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation and other generous donations from individuals. For questions about eligibility and the application process, contact Deb Loitz, KSO Music Education Outreach chair, at musicoutreach@kishorchestra.org.
