Flix on the Farm

Put on your comfiest pajamas and head out to Lockwood Park Trailside Equestrian Centre and Children’s Farm for a family-friendly movie night. This Friday night you can watch “Rio” on the big screen right from the comfort of your car. The sound from the movie will be transmitted to your car radio. 5th Annual Tamale Fest

Who has the best tamale in the Rockford region? Find out Saturday at the 5th Annual Tamale Fest at 3923 E. State St. near Don Carter Lanes in Rockford. The tamales are judged by a panel of local celebrities. There are also awards for best Mexican restaurant, a jalapeno eating contest, and a car show with an award for Best of Show. There are also various community awards for local Latinos. Proceeds from the event will go towards Miracle Mile Rockford and Mexico Americanos Saliendo Adelante. It also celebrates the life of Carmen Aguirre, who died from cancer in 2014 and is the mother of MASA president Manuel Salgado. Click HERE to get more info.
