CHERRY VALLEY — Put on your swimsuit, grab your beach towel, and get ready to make a splash at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor this weekend.

Hurricane Harbor will open its gates for the 2022 season on Saturday. The water park was formerly known as Magic Waters until the Rockford Park District agreed to lease the property to Six Flags in 2019.

Family fun is what Hurricane Harbor is all about. You can travel down speed slides, tube and body slides, cool off in the wave pool, travel down the Splash Magic River, or bring the kids to the interactive water play area, or Little Lagoon.

In the midst of a pandemic, the water park’s 12th waterslide and the Midwest’s first and only tailspin waterslide opened. Changing this year, reservations will not be required but purchasing your tickets online is encouraged.

The waterpark is open Monday through Thursday 11.a.m to 5 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
