GoFundMe pages have been set up for an NIU graduate and current student after they were injured in an apartment fire last week. Both victims had to be flown to Rockford to be treated for the injuries they suffered in the fire in the High Meadows complex on the 1400 block of West Lincoln Highway last Friday morning. All donations will go to Matt Zamudio, a DeKalb native who graduated from the university in December, and student Alyssa Noonen. Zamudio is reportedly no longer in critical condition but remains hospitalized, while Noonen suffered life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The apartment has been deemed uninhabitable.
