The country as a whole really feels like it’s come to a standstill. Disney World and Disneyland are closed, for only the 4th time EVER. The other instances were after the September 11th attacks, the Northridge quake in 1994, and when President Kennedy was shot in 1963. The two biggest live events companies, AEG and Live Nation, have postponed ALL of their major concerts until at least April. Broadway has shut down (but Lin Manuel Miranda gifted fans with an unreleased song from Hamilton as a consolation). March Madness is canceled. Major League Baseball has wiped out the rest of spring training and postponed its season. Cities have banned large gatherings. Millions of students are out of school. The list of coronavirus related closings literally seems endless.

A ton of movies are postponing their release dates as well. A Quiet Place 2, which was supposed to premiere next week, has been pushed back indefinitely. So is Mulan, which was supposed to come out at the end of the month. The new Fast & Furious movie has been delayed until NEXT YEAR!

As for new movies this weekend, they are still set for release. New movies include:

Bloodshot – Action/SciFi based on a Valiant Comics graphic novel. Vin Diesel is a soldier who’s brought back to life with nanotechnology that can heal him instantly and gives him enhanced strength.

The Hunt – Action/Horror/Thriller which is about a group of elitists that hunt humans for sport (yep, lots of people are not happy about this movie)

I Still Believe – Drama/Romance starring Britt Robertson and K.J. Apa based on the true-life story of Christian music star Jeremy Camp.

Just a reminder as we head into the weekend, don’t forget that the Illinois Primary is on Tuesday. It has not been canceled. VOTE EARLY if you can.

And if you plan to do some shopping this weekend, may the odds be ever in your favor. Good grocery items to pick up are: rice, pasta, oats, beans, and canned vegetables. They’re versatile AND they have a long shelf life. For fruits and veggies: go for apples, oranges, and pears which can last a while, same for onions, potatoes, squash, and carrots. Hit up the frozen food aisle too.
