Kishwaukee College professors will lead thought-provoking academic discussion in a regularly-occurring series on campus, known as The Dialogues.

Assistant Professor of Sociology, Pernevlon Ellis and Assistant Professor of History, Jennifer Jossendal will debut the Spring 2019 series with, Everyone Deserves a Second Chance: Evaluating the FIRST STEP Act on Wednesday, February 27 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm in room A1225 on campus.

This event is free and open to the public. Cookies and water will be served.

The Dialogues allow for members of the community to join Kishwaukee College faculty, staff and students in thoughtful, civil discourse on topics relevant to the current events and issues facing the United States and its role in the world.

Everyone Deserves a Second Chance will encompass a detailed look at the “Formerly Incarcerated Reenter Society Transformed Safely Transitioning Every Person Act” better known as the “First Step Act.” The professors will explore the components of the act from both historical and sociological perspectives.

Upcoming series dates occur on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The second forum in The Dialogues series will be “Aren’t I a Woman Too”: Diversity in the Women’s Movement Today and will be held on Wednesday, March 27 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm in room A1225.
