NIU Virtual STEM Café, Into the Nanoworld: Enabling Technologies of the Future

January 13, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NIU’s next virtual STEM Café, Into the Nanoworld: Enabling Technologies of the Future, will be brought to you on the Zoom platform and is scheduled for 6:00 PM on January 13.  Nanotechnology is changing the face of science and engineering; sci-fi concepts are closer to reality than ever.

The guest speaker will be Professor Venumadhav Korampally, NIU Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering.  He will give us an introduction to the what, why and how of nanotechnology.  He’ll discuss the latest methods of synthesizing and creating nanoparticles and nanostructures and provide examples of exciting nanotech applications, including cloaking – which could make 3D objects disappear from plain sight – and nanotech lubricants that make friction disappear.

Registration is required for this free online event. We have switched to Zoom to provide easier access to the platform.  Register and learn more at go.niu.edu/nanotechnology.
