University of Illinois Extension and Live Healthy DeKalb County Food Security Council are collaborating to facilitate a Poverty Simulation on Friday, September 20 from 9:00-11:30 am. The Poverty Simulation will be held at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building, located at 1350 West Prairie Rd in Sycamore.
The objective of the simulation is to sensitize participants to the day-to-day realities faced by individuals with low income, and motivate participants to become involved in activities that help reduce poverty in DeKalb County. By taking part in the simulation, participants will experience what it is like to live a month in poverty.
The simulation is open to anyone interested in increasing their awareness of the daily challenges of those living in poverty.
There is no charge to participate in the simulation; however preregistration is required by September 16, 2019. Participation is limited.
