Linux Users Group
Join the DeKalb Linux Users Group, a community meet-up for anyone interested in learning about GNU/Linux and free, open-source software (FOSS). Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced user, this group offers a friendly space to develop new skills, share knowledge, and connect with other Linux enthusiasts. Meetings will focus on on-boarding new users, sharing information, and developing skills through short presentations, guided discussions, demonstrations, and opportunities for peer-to-peer troubleshooting. No prior Linux experience is required; however, participants will get the most out of the sessions if they are comfortable with basic computer use. Sessions often include both beginner topics and optional deeper dives. This group is open to all community members, especially those who are curious about Linux for the first time, as well as students, educators, hobbyists, and professionals. Participants should bring their own laptops or devices if they want their own personal hands-on experience during the session or be open to participating as an observer or discussion contributor. Sessions are educational and non-commercial and are intended for teens and adults. No registration is required. For additional information, please contact the Tech Desk at laral@dkpl.org or at (815) 756-9568 ext. 2851.
