March 25, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Meet island ecology researcher Wieteke Holthuijzen as she shares her friend Caren Loebel-Fried’s book, A Perfect Day for an Albatross, and their unique experience volunteering on Midway Atoll.  Visit the DeKalb Public Library on Monday, March 25, at 1:00 p.m. to fly with albatross to this remote and unique island system and learn all about the amazing wildlife that inhabit Midway.

Holthuijzen will share her experiences as a researcher, describe fascinating work restoring Midway’s seabird colony, and more.  She will also read from Loebel-Fried’s book and share information about preserving and protecting oceanic seabirds and their nesting habitats.

This event is open to all ages.  No registration is required to attend this FREE program. It will be held in the upper level Story & Activity Room.
