Genealogy Classes at the DeKalb County History Center

Interested in spending time this fall researching your family? Have you been researching for a while and hit a dead end? Need some new ideas on where to look?  Julie Dresser will be teaching her six-week genealogy class starting on Tuesday, September 17. She will start with an overview of genealogy and then get into specific areas to research each week. Topics will include: local and national repositories; finding your family in the census; birth, marriage and death records; home sources; military records and much more.

Dresser started as a genealogist at age eleven and has never lost her passion. Now, she is sharing her knowledge with those interested in starting genealogy or those who want to brush up their skills.

Registration is required, and there is limited space available. Classes will be held on Tuesdays starting September 17 through October 29 at 6:00 p.m. The classes will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the DeKalb County History Center, 1730 N. Main Street. There is a $25 charge and registration is limited. Registration starts on September 1. To register call 815-895-5762 or email info@dekalbcountyhistory.org.
